Ilda Teresa de Castro

Ilda Teresa de Castro is a post doctoral researcher with the project "Landscape and Change - Movements" (Paisagem e Mudança - Movimentos). She obtained her PhD degree in Communication Sciences/Cinema and Television at the New University of Lisbon, with the thesis "I, Animal - the filmic order in ecocritical awareness and the paradigm shift" (Eu Animal - a ordem do fílmico na consciencialização ecocritica e na mudança de paradigma). Her thesis deals with the part films play, in the construction of an ecocritical conscience.

She is an integrated member of the Philosophy of Language Institute of the New University of Lisbon (IFILNOVA), and a researcher on the project Film and Philosophy: Mapping an Encounter.

Her main research interests are Art & Ecology, Animal Studies, Plant Studies, Ecomedia, Ecocriticism, Film and Arts. She has a Bachelor in Cinema and a Degree in Arts.

She also develops artistic projects (visual and sound instalations) on the ecocritical domain.
