Rui Bertrand Romão

Rui Bertrand Romão is a member of the IFL (Institute for Philosophy of Language) since 2006. He currently is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Porto, Faculty of Arts. He got his PhD and Aggregation degrees in Philosophy at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (New University of Lisbon), respectively in 2000 and 2008

He is the author of, among others, the following books: Caminhos da Dúvida – cepticismo, protomodernidade e política, Lisboa, Vendaval, 2010; Montaigne e a Modernidade, Covilhã, UBI, 2010; A Apologia na Balança. A Reinvenção do Pirronismo na Apologia de Raimundo Sabunde de Michel de Montaigne, Lisboa, Imprensa Nacional, 2007; Quid? Estudos sobre Francisco Sanches, Porto, Campo das Letras, 2003. He has published numerous articles and chapters of books in Portuguese, in French, in Spanish and in English. He is the Principal Investigator of the Project “Scepticism and Conservatism”, PTDC/FIL-FIL/112953/2009, funded by the FCT with the overall rating of Excellent. He previously was the coordinator of the IFL internal project “Scepticism, Modernity and Politics” (2007-2010). In 2008 he was Visiting Scholar at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
