Humberto Brito

Bio note

Humberto Brito is a post-doctoral researcher at IFILNOVA since 2008. He holds a BA in Linguistics (Universidade de Lisboa, 2002), and a PhD in Literary Theory (Universidade de Lisboa, 2007). He directed the Philosophy and Literature Network (2009-2015), and he founded and directed Forma de Vida (2013-2016). Since 2009, he also held teaching appointments at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Universidade de Lisboa, University of Chicago, and Stanford University. He is a photographer, and he writes about photography, literature, and philosophy.Academic Interests 

Humberto Brito wrote a doctoral dissertation on Aristotle’s Poetics. His post-doctoral research interests include topics in aesthetics and the philosophy of art, philosophy of action, Elizabeth Anscombe’s Intention, the work of Fernando Pessoa, and the person form. At present, he is interested in questions concerning literature and photography.
